RENEW YOUR BOAT ONLINE IN TIME FOR BOATING SEASON
Simple online process offers an immediate temporary registration permit
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – April 25, 2006 – It’s the time of year when Utah’s lakes start to fill with residents enjoying Utah’s warm weather. This also means that it’s time to renew boats and other watercraft. The same Renewal Express service offered through the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) that is used to renew automobiles can also be used to renew boats. Renewal Express can be found online at http://renewalexpress.utah.gov.
Renewal Express allows individuals to complete a boat registration 24 hours a day and 7 days a week for the same cost as using the mail-in renewal. Most boat owners receive a registration renewal packet in the mail during the spring. Included in the packet is a Personal Identification Number (PIN) that can be used to access the Renewal Express system online and complete the registration. After submitting an online payment, a temporary registration permit is issued and can be printed with your own printer. Permanent registration decals are then mailed within 10 days of completing the online process.
By renewing online, a boat renewal can be completed within approximately 15 minutes – with the benefit of being able to immediately print a temporary registration. This allows citizens to enjoy Utah’s waterways at a moments notice. It is also an excellent service for those who want to be prepared for their first day of boating.
Although boat owners can still renew through the mail-in process, or by visiting the DMV, Renewal Express allows greater flexibility and convenience, especially for those anxious to enjoy the many lakes and reservoirs throughout Utah.
