Seven Utah campgrounds rank among America's 100 best for families, according to a report by ReserveAmerica, a company that handles on-line and telephone reservations for federal and many state camping areas.
ReserveAmerica processes over 3 million camping reservations per year for 1.1 million people. It handles reservations for over 140,000 campsites in 44 states and 1 province. To identify the best family campgrounds the company gathered information from park rangers, managers and campers. More than 2,500 areas were evaluated according to criteria that included such things as amenities (modern toilets and hot showers), hiking trails, family beaches, educational programs, beauty and scenery.
Five of the Utah campgrounds listed are in state parks: Green River, Escalante, Fremont Indian, Kodachrome Basin and Otter Creek. Andersone Cove at Pineview Reservoir and Mustang Ridge at Flaming Gorge also made the list.
