Fly fishing Clinics
Fishing 101 will be taught at the U of U, April 17 and June 26, by Outdoor Source Fly Fishers. This is a comprehensive one-day course designed for the novice fly fisher. It explores the art and philosophy of fly fishing, equipment, knots, entomology, a casting clinic and a discussion of nearby fishing opportunities. The objective of our fly fishing courses is to make you a better, more informed fly fisher, ready to "solo" and fish without the assistance of a guide. Learn to read a water, pick a fly, tie a leader and cast a line. Bring a lunch and join us on Saturday. Instructors: Roger Furse, John Campbell or Ron Wilkerson. Cost: $79, plus a special fee of $25. Tommy Skarlis, professional walleye angler and educator, will visit the Riverdale Sporstman's Warehouse store on Feb 27, from 1-6:30 pm. Tommy will be the guest of Pure Fishing, one of the world's largest fishing tackle companies. The public is invited stop by and chat with Tommy and to participate in several seminars he will be teaching during the afternoon. Sportsman's Warehouse is located at 1137 West Riverdale Road, Riverdale, UT.

Indian Pow Wow, "Echoing Traditionals Ways," will be held Feb 27-28 at the USU Field House. Dancing is incredible at these events. Also food and cultural activities. Call Randall Sunders, 435-797-2891.

Hooked on Fishing seminar will teach adults how to get young people interested in fishing. The free event will be Feb. 28 in Salt Lake City. Sponsored by DWR, the workshop will run from 9 am to 4 pm at the Department of Natural Resources, 1594 W. North Temple.

Moab Skinny Tire Festival
March 5-8. Four Days of fully-supported road cycling to benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation. Event includes Celebration Party, silent auction with VIP autographed items, and informational workshops.

Snow Goose Festival will be held March 5-6 and 12-13 near Delta. This provides a great opportunity to view these birds.

Shotgun shooting basics will be taught to women at a Salt Lake City clinic offered March 6, 13, 20, 27.

Banff Mountain Film Festival
March 10. Held at Grand County High School Auditorium in Moab at 7:30 pm. From ice-climbing in the Canadian Rockies to paragliding in the Himalayas, from the nomadic lives of Tibetan herders to the climbing adventures of Biscuit the dog, this years Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour captures the spirit of mountain adventure. Sponsored by Utah Open Lands and Petzl. $10 admission benefits open space preservation in Utah.

Canyon Country Western Arts Festival, March 11-14, will feature cowboy poets, leather workers, pottery makers and other western artists. Will be held at Southern Utah University Sharwan Smith Center in Cedar City. Call Maria Twitchell 435-586-5124.

A bass tournament will be held March 13th at Utah Lake's Lindon Harbor, 6 am until 3:30 pm. Largemouth bass often start to bite by that time and provide a great early-season outing. Call Clark Chaimberlain for more details: 801-898-3380.

Utah Whitewater Film Festival will be April 17, at 7 pm, at the OSH Auditorium on the University of Utah campus. Tickets will cost $7 in advance or $10 at the door. This is the 4th annual festival; the past 3 events have raised over $19,000 for the Snake River. Sponsors are being sought for this year's event.
