The Kamik® Chase
Kamik®, a Canadian brand well known for winter shoes and boots, who conquers Mother Nature’s most extreme conditions with their winter collection, Kamik® is rolling out their latest spring/summer line. In true tradition, this new line offers a number of functional elements created to enhance the dependability and durability of each shoe. Like all Kamik® shoes, the spring collection offers the versatility to tackle multiple terrains. Kamik® seems truly a brand for all seasons, utilizing innovative stat-of-the-art technology and materials built to combat every extreme. I had the opportunity to meet with Kate Barbera, (Lime public relations + promotions) at the Salt Lake City OR show for a first hand look at the new 2007 line. Among them is the Chase. The Kamik® Chase is a semi-casual hiker or trail shoe which I thought a good choice for my activities. After a much anticipated arrival, the Chase (in Wasabi green, but also available in Natural and Blue colors) was exceptionally comfortable right out of the box, and I didn’t think it needed much break-in time and found them very comfortable from the first time I put them on. The Chase seemed to fit much more like a running shoe, than a casual shoe, or a trail boot. I have found you don’t need to look any further if you want total comfort. With the great support of the compression molded EVA midsole and a lightweight feeling of the strobel lasted construction, you feel like you can hike for miles and miles. I also found they aren’t bulky; they don’t need "breaking in" time and the look great too in all situations. The Chase is a perfect shoe for weekend ventures in the hills. Or evening walks along the mountains trail. The sole lacks some aggressiveness in the lugs for serious hiking or off trail scrambling, though I think the rest of the shoe would perform just fine. The lacing allows for a secure fit, and I found the shoe to be very stable. Perhaps the feature I liked the best about the Chase is that I could wear them on a morning hike with my kids, and then go straight to a casual business lunch without needing to change. The Chase has found its way in to my daily wardrobe, because I can wear it pretty much anywhere without wondering if I am going to need an extra pair of shoes for changing later. Summary; The Chase is a great all around shoe that you can wear on trails, at the club, or out to lunch. See Ya in the Outdoors, Also available in the below color options!
