For years now I have been carrying two items in my hunting pack when heading out for just about any hunt. If I have to skin out an animal, small or large, I have used a Game Skinner Knife that features a half circle, broad surfaced bladed for making long sweeping cuts or skinning tasks, and a simple X-Acto™ style knife. This has been my preferred method for years now. I really liked the swooping blade on my Game Skinner knife for the "big work" but I learn first hand from a great Taxidermist that using a smaller, replaceable blade X-Acto™ style knife can make all the difference when caping out a skin or even simple skinning tasks. The introduction on the new Rhino Folding Lockblade Utility Knife by Sheffield Mfg. is taking the World by storm. It was recently featured at Orlando's Rosen Plaza and Rosen Centre Hotels during SHOT 2007 and I received a news release on the event and quickly contacted Sheffield Mfg's Public Relationtions Firm about the possibilities of reviewing the knife first hand. I was excited to see if it really was as good as it looked in the promotional flyer I had received. I didn't have to wait long.
I received the Rhino within days and have been totally impressed with the features of this new knife! Designed and specially engineered for skinning large North American game, I can hardly wait for fall again to get out and really put the Rhino to the test! This knife solves all my problems! Fairly light weight at 6 ounces, considering the fact you are replacing (or in my case) two knifes and a sharpening steel, the Rhino is built for heavy duty skinning, yet it has a small enough cutting tip that getting into those hard to skin out areas should be a breeze. And the best part... when it get's dull, simply open up the Lightweight ABS handle which features storage for 6 blades, grab a new blade. Open the Patented Quick Change Mechanism, take out the old blade and replace it with a sharp new blade!
