THE KSL PODCASTS
KSL Newsradio 102.7 FM & 1160
AM are thrilled to be on the cutting edge of technology by offering a tremendous
amount of programing for automatic free download. Listen to KSL programming
when you want to and where you want to. KSL was Utah's first radio station
to offer podcasts and today we continue to lead the way in the amount and
types of programming we offers.
If you're new to podcasting read on. We're certain you'll be amazed at what podcasting technology allows us to offer you at no charge.
WHAT IS PODCASTING?
Podcasting simply means you can set up your computer to automatically download audio content. Don't let the term fool you. You don't have to have an iPod or any mp3 player. All you need is a computer and the service costs absolutely nothing. It just takes a few minutes to set up.
We're constantly adding to the amount of programming and features we're making available for downloading. The list of current podcast channels is on the right.
THE INSTRUCTIONS:
There are several ways to do this. We'll take you through the easiest and most popular steps.
1. Download iTunes
You'll need to download Apples iTunes. You do not need to have an Apple computer or own an iPod. The software is available free of charge and is well tested. We suggest you go download the software by clicking on the link below and then returning to this page when have completed the installation.
Download iTunes 6.0.4 here.
2. Select Feeds
Now that you have iTunes installed, you will want to select the feeds you want to subscribe to. A list of the various podcasting feeds KSL Newsradio offers is on the right. Pick the feed that offers the program you want automatically downloaded to your computer.
3. Copy Feed Link
Next, put your mouse over the "xml" button of the feed you want. Right click your mouse. Choose "copy shortcut" or "copy link" in
the menu that pops up.
4. Subscribe in iTunes
Now, open up iTunes. You will
see several items in a menu at the top of the screen, such as "File, Edit, Controls, etc." Click on "Advanced." In the menu that drops down click on "Subscribe
to Podcast..."
A box will then pop up and you
will want to right click your mouse while holding the pointer over that box.
In the menu that pops up select "paste." You should now see some text in
that box. It should look something like this, "ht...//real.ksl.com/audio/noon_news.rss."
If you do not see that text go back to this page and repeat steps 3 and 4.
If the text was copied then click on OK.
5. Subscribe to More Feeds
Now, subscribe to as many feeds as you'd like. If you want to subscribe to more than one KSL podcast feed then repeat steps 2-4.
6. Download Programs
Now, prepare for downloads. You need to know the programs you subscribe to will only download when you open iTunes on your computer. In other words, if you're subscribed to CougarRadio your computer will not Tuesday's program until you open iTunes. Then, it will automatically download the program and place it on your computer to listen to.
If you have an iPod iTunes will not only download the program, but it will also place it on your iPod the next time you sync up your iPod with your computer.
PLEASE NOTE:
Some Podcasts, such as General Conference and BYU Football games, have several segments that do need to be downloaded separately. To get all the available segments simply follow the instructions below.
1. Open iTunes
2. Click on Podcasts in the left-hand column. This should display all Podcasts you are currently subscribed to.
3. Click on the small blue arrow in front of the Podcast in question. This should display all the available segments for that Podcast.
4. To download
an individual segment, click on "GET".
